The Plymouth was prepared with an automatic transmission for testing
                             . at Huntsville.

Tests began on 13 July with the B&M experimental transmission modi
fied with a swinging oil pick up and cooler lines set up to run with and
                              without a filter.

The transmission failed and was returned to B&M for inspection. A

run for durability. Low oil pressure on turns was indicated and a
deep sump transmission pan was installed. The deep pan bottomed
' out on several areas of the course, lost oil pressure, and failed the
                              transmission.
