Wind Tunnel Tests of 3/8- and Full Scale Automobiles - A Performance
Report Covering the Period 22 September 1968 through 6 October 1968

Due to the 3 enc y of providing the race people with results from the 3/8-scal
wind tunnel tests, Mr. V. W. Sparks from Huntsvill e was in Detroit part of
this period assisting in the publication of preliminar y 3/8-scale wind tunnel
results. He also assisted in preparation of oral pre sentations given to uppe
                 management at the Engineering Office.

Also during his visit an outline of the final eport was formulated and various
responsibilities assigned. Huntsville’s contribution to the reports will cover
analysis and write-ups of the following subjects:

                           1. Corrections to the wind tunnel data due to tunnel buoyanc

                          2. Corrections applied to the data to account for model blockag

                          3. Analysis of the tunnel boundary layer and its effects on
                                  the data

                          4. Determination of wind tunnel flow angularity

                           5. Discussion r n Q □ round plane setup and its effectiveness

                           6. Description of the wind tunnel and balance system

                           7. Model installation and mounting details and dimensions

                           8. Discussion and analysis of the essure drop across the

It is anticipated that these analyses will extend through December of this
year. The above work will be done in Huntsville with occasional trips to
Detroit to Q oordination and redirection if necessary.
