Trip Report to Chrysler Engineering Office-Highland Park, Michigan,
                December 9 - 11, 1968

The writer visited the Engineering Offices in Highland Park for the primary

purpose of making a presentation to management on a proposed program for development

of a Rapid Heat System for passenger cars.

Monday the writer met with Mr. H. P. Bruns to review a»-official IPA on the

race car communication system. Mr. Bruns approved the agreement and forwarded it

to Mr. Heron's office via Mr. Gordon for final approval. I left a copy with Mr. A. Splan

for information and requested a verbal go ahead when Mr. Heron signed the IPA.

I reviewed the preliminary results of our magnetic tape recorder testing and

evaluation program carried out in the Charger 500 race car in November at Daytona.amt-

some preliminary comments. The Sony tape recorder was returned to Mr. March in the

Sound A^nd Vibration Laboratory with a recording of the sound level in the race car during

tests made on the Lockheed recorder and dubbed on the Sony tape. Mr. Bruns arranged
                                  r d i
to have this played back in the Sound Lab quiet room for the race group.

Monday afternoon I met with Mr. N. March and reviewed the recorder test results

and left copies of the high speed (5000 cps) oscillographs from the three recorders. We

casually discussed the pos sibilities of telemetry at the proving ground. Mr. March was
                                                         O A A e.'C f <i 'n’6 O 'y'X'o* ft
interested in learning more about it but had reservations that tape recorders would be less

expensive to operate on an individual vehicle basis. He has not, however, closed the subject

and would like to gain experience and confidence in telemetry. He has tentative plans to do
