               Trip Report to Detroit November 12-15, 1968






                       The writer and Mr. G. G. McDonald visited Detroit to attend a working meeting

               on Rapid Heat and test a dynamic exhaust gas flow measuring concept on the vehicle


               emissionsz\dynamometer test stand.

                       Wednesday morning the writer met with Mr. Bruns and reviewed the pit to

               driver communication system concept and a rough cost proposal. Later the concept


               was reviewed with Mr. Rogers and verbal approval was granted. An IPA must be

               submitted to obtain a formal go-ahead.


                       Wednesday afternoon Mr. McDonald met with the vehicle emission group (V

               Sink) and made preparations for comparative testing of our flow measuring device on


               their test stand".

                       The writer attended     p  debriefing{on the practical results of race car wind tunnel

               testing at Wichita State University and Lockheed-Georgia Company at Marietta. Some


               very interesting confidential results were discussed and Huntsville personnel were

               complimented for their efforts.               c (


                       The writer^met with Mr. H. Lanktree of the Cooling Laboratory and discussed  p

               possible computer program for use in the new wind tunnel being built at the proving


               ground. Mr. Lanktree was vague about his actual requirements and uncertain of the

               facility details since their Plant Engineering is rather secretive about their detail plans.

               Mr. Lanktree asked that we prepare a rough work scope and cost estimate for their
