A technical report will be prepared on the results once evaluation is complete.
No preliminary conclusions can be drawn at this time due to a large number of variables.
The Lockheed recorder, however appeared to be favored because of its compact design,
lighter weight, and self-contained power supply. All recorders have some kind of noise
problem which must be evaluated.
The Sony and Ampex were returned to Huntsville for replay of comparative date
(the Lockheed 1/2 in. tape was dubbed on the 1/4 in. Ampex tape). The Sony will be
returned to the Engineering Office in Detroit and the Ampex returned to the local
r epr es entative.
