review. I suggested that we should consider a multiphased program on a level of effort

basis since the details are so vague at this time.

Later the writer met with Messrs. L. Rathgeb and G. Wallace to discuss the

tape recorder testing program planned November 25-29 at Daytona Speedway. The

Race Group is preparing attest mounting platform for installation in the 1969 Charger

500 race car to allow easy installation of the different recorders. Several recorders

(Ampex, Sony, Lockheed, and Kinelogic) are being evaluated for testing in the car

               during this test series.

The writer visited Mr. R. Clements to review progress and costs on a pro

posed telemetry system for the proving ground. Mr. Clements is very interested and

asked that we summarize findings to date in a memo. The concept was reviewed briefly

               with Mr. Clifford also.

Thursday afternoon the writer met with Mr. R. Smith in the Advanced Engineering

Section and reviewed their concepts for rapid heat. Mr. Smith suggested that if CHO is

interested in high volume items to manufacture we should consider air conditioning control

valves, sensors, etc., since these are all vendor items. He also mentioned the impact

inflatable air bag system as a possibility for our manufacture if we are i ntereste

seriously pursuing a funded rapid heat program:
