transmission was installed Saturday night for endurance testing of brakes Sunday. The
driver failed to show up Sunday so the test was scrubbed and the vehicle returned to
                 Huntsville.

Rework of the test vehicle began during the holidays in preparation for Talladega
tests 5 January 1970o A new engine (D-4 heads) was installed, suspension system
changed, rear brake cooling ducts removed, and general changes made for oval track
                 testing.

The Daytona test vehicle was instrumented for measuring the
                 following parameters:

                                               Engine Speed
                                               Front Wheel Speed
                                               Manifold Vacuum
                                               Acceleration Longitudinal
                                               Acceleration Lateral
                                               Acceleration Vertical
                                               Steering Wheel Position
                                               Yaw or Slip Angle
                                               Left Front Wheel Position
                                               Right Front Wheel Position
                                               Left Rear Wheel Position
                                               Right Rear Wheel Position
                                               Engine Oil Pressure
                                               Brake Line Pressure
                                               Brake Lining Temperatures (4 Wheels)
                                               Engine Water Temperature

The system was checked out upon arrival at Riverside and problems
arose with the Lockheed tape recorder which would not lock in speed synchronization. A
Lockheed serviceman made temporary repairs to the recorder Sunday prior to tests and
ordered replacement parts from the factory in New Jersey. The unit functioned mar
ginally throughout early testing and Thursday while the transmission was being installed
the recorder was taken to the service representative in San Francisco for replacement
of the defective part (a tachometer speed sensor) . No further problems arose.

Test data was reduced and analyzed by engineering. Records were
made of performance braking and handling for base line runs as well as comparative
system performance for brakes, transmissions, engines, exhaust systems, drivers,
                  etc.
