W. P. Wright - 2 - April 22, 1970

When the car was returned from painting on Friday, 13 March, the writer
began re-installing and re-checking all instruments. During Saturday and Sunday
all instruments were recalibrated. At this time it was reported that the engine
had again failed during dynamometer testing.

AAR then received an engine from Keith Black on 16 March and installed
this engine in the race car. However, when runs were attempted on 18 March at
Riverside, the engine did not develop proper oil pressure and forced cancellation
of the test without an instrumented run.

The writer returned to Huntsville on 19 March, but left all instrumentation in
California for testing scheduled for 24 March.

On Monday, 23 March, the writer returned to California. The purpose of
this trip was to participate in Trans/Am instrumented track test begun 5 March 1970.

Upon arriving at AAR, it was discovered that the car was not ready. Although
Huntsville was to have been advised of any change of plans, no notice had been
                   received.

After arrival, all instrumentation was given a functional check and recalibrated.
At this time a complete check list for operation of the instrumentation was prepared.
This check list was demonstrated to Mr. Steve Green and turned over to him.

The writer departed Santa Anna for Huntsville Friday, 27 March. The instru
mentation was to be sent air express at the conclusion of testing.

On 7 April the instrumentation arrived at Huntsville. Conversation with Mr.
Green then disclosed that the instrumentation did not function when a test was
                    attempted.

Upon checking the equipment, it was discovered that several critical system
wires and connectors had been broken. The main power supply connection was among
those parts broken. Further conversation with Mr. Green indicated that the instru
mentation had been removed and reinstalled after the writer's 27 March departure.
Close examination of the components indicated that the damage resulted from wires
being stepped on and/or pulled while the car was being prepared.
