     ENGINE COOLING WIND TUNNEL 7
             3. PROPOSED WIND TUNNEL (Continued)
Wind Tunnel Layout (Cont i nued)
Storage space shall be provided for approximately 24 radiator
                   and some associated components.
Vehicle access shall be from the driveway along side the pedes
trian entrance through an overhead door into the support area.
Within the support area there shall be preparation bays for
three cars, one of which shall be equipped with a car hoist.
The Mechanica1.Equipment Room shall contain the Wind Tunnel
                   fan drive and starter equipment.
The Boiler Room shal1 contain a small steam generator complete
with condensate tank, feed water treatment equipment and stack.
The Electrical Substation shall be equipped with primary and
                   secondary switchgear and transformers.
The Wind Tunnel circuit shall consist of C D fan, di ffuser return
passage, settling chamber, nozzle and test section.
The internal structures and equipment provided in the tunnel
circuit shall be turning vanes, heating coi < /) screens, water
vapour injection systems for raising the humidity, lamps for
simulated solar heat load, tunnel air make-up and exhaust
systems, 48" chassis rolls dynamometer and engine exhaust
                                                                                                  u
system. The large chassis rolls are required to minimize
tire failures due to excessive heat build-up when a car
is being tested under high speed/high temperature conditions.
